Petaling Jaya — Workshop
I attended the workshop before my first year of filing. The annotated form walkthrough made a real difference — I finally understood what "exempt income" meant in practice, not just as a definition. The question checklist was something I actually used with my accountant afterwards.

Bangsar — 4-Week Course
The four-week course gave me the time to actually absorb the material rather than cramming it in one sitting. Week three on document categories was particularly helpful. I did wish there was a little more time for worked examples on the last session, but overall the structure was well thought through.

Cheras — Full Programme
I enrolled in the complete programme because I wanted to feel settled about how to read my documents, not just pick up a few terms. The printed guide is now something I keep on my desk throughout the year. The group Q&A sessions after the main content ended were genuinely useful — you realise others have the same questions.

Puchong — Workshop
Straightforward and useful. I've been filing my own taxes for a few years but there were still terms I wasn't entirely sure about. The session clarified those without making it feel overwhelming. The group was small enough that I didn't feel awkward asking about something basic.

Shah Alam — 4-Week Course
What I appreciated most was that Cashen was very clear this was general information and not advice. That made me more comfortable asking vocabulary questions — I wasn't worried about being given guidance I hadn't asked for. The record-keeping template from week four is something I have now set up properly for the first time.

Nur Jannah Alias
Ampang — Full Programme
I went from finding the EA form confusing to being able to read through it section by section with a reasonable sense of what each part means. I still see my tax agent for my actual filing, but the conversations are much more productive now that I know what questions to ask. The three months of Q&A sessions after the programme were a good addition.

Participant Journeys
Three participant stories describing where they started, what they covered, and what changed for them.
Filing for the First Time
A 27-year-old graphic designer in KL had just received her first EA form and found most of the column headings unfamiliar. She was uncertain which reliefs were relevant to her situation and felt unprepared for a meeting with a tax agent.
Personal Tax Vocabulary Workshop
She attended the half-day workshop in May 2025. The annotated EA form walkthrough covered the sections she had found most confusing. The question checklist helped her organise what to ask her agent in the following week.
A More Productive Meeting
She described her appointment with her tax agent as "noticeably less overwhelming" than she had expected. She arrived with specific vocabulary questions rather than general confusion, and felt she could follow the agent's explanations much more easily.
"I didn't need to ask what every word meant — I just needed to ask about my specific numbers."
Mid-Career, Multiple Income Types
A 41-year-old engineer in Shah Alam had employment income and some freelance project income. He wasn't sure how the two were categorised differently on a return, or how to keep the right records through the year to make filing cleaner.
Tax Literacy Course (4 Weeks)
He attended the four-week course in April–May 2025. Week two on income categories clarified how different income types are generally described in LHDN documents. Week four on record-keeping led to him setting up a simple folder system he now uses consistently.
Organised Records, Clearer Documents
He now maintains a simple folder structure through the year and describes his relationship with the official documents as "much less anxious." He still works with a qualified tax agent for the actual filing, and notes the conversations are more efficient because he arrives with organised paperwork.
"I finally understand what categories I'm actually dealing with — even if the numbers still go to someone else."
Approaching Retirement, Reviewing Everything
A 57-year-old school administrator in Ampang wanted to understand her personal tax documents more thoroughly before she retired. She had always relied entirely on her husband's tax agent and wanted to feel more personally informed.
Complete Personal Tax Literacy Programme
She enrolled in the full programme in early 2025, completing the sessions over several months. The printed guide and the group Q&A sessions were the elements she found most valuable, allowing her to revisit vocabulary questions as they arose in her reading.
Reading Documents With Her Own Eyes
She now reads through official documents herself before handing them to a professional, and can follow what the agent is explaining without relying on a simplified summary. She describes the change as moving from "having things done for me" to "understanding what is being done."
"The vocabulary was the wall between me and understanding. The programme cleared most of it."
